  2. Put strings across the opening and attach those to a stick which is also attached to the can.

    it's almost a guitar.

  3. Half fill it with water and hit it with a spoon

Fill it with sand and shake it

Hang it like a pendulum and hit it on walls

Whisper into the can to create echos.

  4. here's what comes to mind right now:

    1) empty the coffee can and put some rice/beans in it.

Shake and use as a maraca.

    2) use an empty coffee can as a drum

3)Use a fork of something to glide across the coffee can's surface and make noise.

  5. put a mini ipod in the can ey

  6. The first two that came to mind were turning it into a tongue drum or a makeshift kalimba.

I can't help but wonder if you could cut a hole in it, put some finger-holes somewhere, and turn it into a wind instrument....

I will say that if you take almost any of these ideas that people have offered and slap a piezo contact mic in the can, you would get some pretty crazy sounds out of it....

  7. if its can you might be able to make a tiny kettle drum but maybe not,

Or get a few of them cut up the tin hang the piece's of string and make a mobil or wind chime (not strictly musical but could make a nice sound)
