Do you have a CRT monitor? A CRT is one of those monitors that has a slightly rounded screen and the back extends far. Or do you have an LCD? An LCD has a flat screen, with a very thin panel that does not extend back far. If you have a computer savvy friend ask them to help you install the video card, if not, try to find someone who can, or do it yourself, and read the manual that comes with the video card on how to install it. Follow exactly what the manual says, it's pretty easy to install it, but some simple things can make it not work, like installing it backwards or upside down (which is common), also touch a piece of metal or wood before touching the video card, if you get static electricity on the video card, it can brake.
