The homemeade vuvuzela gained recognition in 2010 during the World Cup which was hosted by South Africa. It has this wild sound that can be heard from afar and it can be helpful learning how to create your own. It can be created using a cheap plastic baseball bat, scissors, a plastic cup with the bottom cut off and colored electrical tape, all these can be purchased in a thrift store.

    * Prepare the bat: cut the end of the baseball bat, tidy up and cut vertical slits into the end of the bat so that they open outward like flower petals.

    * Cut a hole in the bottom of the bat handle and insert the plastic mouthpiece: use scissors to squeeze out a hole in end of the handle of the bat. Insert the plastic mouthpiece from the horn and glue it in place, allow the glue to dry.

    * Form the bell and decorate the vuvuzela: Cut the bottom of a plastic cup to fit into the space provided by the plastic slats at the end of the bat. The largest portion of the cup should face outward. Wrap electrical tape around the end of the bat to secure the plastic cup in place. Decorate the new vuvzela with the electrical tape.
