How can you make your patience longer?

greetings. I suppose patience is very important in everyone in every ways especially on dealing with others isn't it? And many people wish they had longer patience when it comes to that, don't they?

So can you please give any good advices on how to make your patience longer? Answers will be greatly appreciated.

When I start to lose patience I force a little smile.

sounds lame but meditate. Not even for long periods of time. When you feel you are about to lose it, adopt the breathing of 10 counts used while meditating and close your eyes for a few seconds. It's amazing how regrouped you feel after words, how much more collected you feel.

Separate myself from a high strung situation and give myself time to gather my thoughts and regain control over my emotions before further handling the situation.

I also pray for patience.  God has given me more patience than I can image.  Having children in itself is an excellent way to learn patience.  I wish for longer patience each day so I can do what is the best for my children rather than act in haste.

well when your kids are driving you nuts and the easiest thing to do would be scream at them, it helps to be patient by counting in your head.  Sounds too simple, but it does help a little.  Also I try to put humor into the situation--say something funny to my sons, and then it's funny to me, so a little stress is released, and then if I can get them to laugh they usually stop doing the thing that was stressing me out in the first place.  As a mom of two extremely exuberant boys, and another one due any day, I pray for patience daily.

The best way I have found to keep patient is similar - deep breaths.  It really does work.  Also, I find that if I engage in 1 daily activity just for me, it sort of build up my patience again.  Reading a book, going for a walk, that all helps.
