How can you measure yourself to see what size you wear in swim suits w/o trying on different size swim suits?

I'm a swimmer, first off, and all of my practice suits are worn out from last season. Well...I only have one practice suit. I picked out two suits from swimoutlet.com and I asked my mom if I could get them. She looked over my order and said that I don't wear a 34. But my 32 is too small and my 34, that I own, fits perfectly. Both of the swimsuits I picked out are Nike and the 34 I have is Club Swim. So I have no idea if the Nike swim suits are going to fit. How can I measure myself to find that out? No dumb answers please.

  1. No Dumb Answers ..But as for Me I wouldn,t buy a bathing suit Unless I could try it on~regaurdless of wether I used this suit for swim practice or liesure. {thats my dumb truthful answer}

  2. Go with the 32. After a while, you will break it in and it'll fit perfectly. An you shouldn't get Nike because they're horrible at making swim suits. If I were you, I would go with the Speedo or TYR suits. They last much longer and are usually on sale all the time.

    P.S. If your swim club or team buys in bulk, you can get a greater discount at the swim shop...

  3. Here is the Nike size chart for swim suits:

  4. Swim suits competitive ones are supposed to be like a layer of skin, that is really tight.  Unless you are 6 feet tall and 180 lbs the 34 is too big.  The suits are loosely based upon your clothing size, but run 1-2 sizes big.  So a size 24 is a zero in misses pants.  This size is best fit for girls under 100 lbs.  Most swim team girls wear a 26 or 28.  A 26 is for girls that are over 100 up to 115-120.  A 28 is for girls that are 125-145.  A 30 usually 150-165.  A 32 same.  Depends on the bustiness of the girl and height.  A 34 is around 180 lbs.  A 34 is technically a size 10 but girls wearing this are usually wearing a misses size 14 pant.  A 36 is the largest size that is not plus size.  38-40 are for women wearing plus sizes 1X-3X.  So if you look along a size line, what size are you in clothes, or even are you an extra small a 24, small 26, Average 28-30, 32-34 large, extra large 36, or 38-40 plus size.

  5. best thing is to try stuff on in sports shops. im a guy and i find that speedos are tighter than nike or adidas for example. most shops are ok with letting you try them on. hope you find what you need.

  6. They have a sizing chart on the online swimsuit shops.

    You can follow the measurements and choose your sizing.

    I think that if you are buying swimsuits for competitive swimming, it would be better if you get the swimsuits 1 size smaller, so as to ensure a kind of "skin-tight" fit to reduce drag.

    Besides, swimsuits are meant to be tight, so maybe its advisable to get a swimsuit being tight, rather than being loose and when you jump into the pool, your swimsuit falls off. :X

    So my advice is to get 1 size smaller than what you are wearing now, but not so tight till you are giving yourself a wedgie. :X

    If you are still facing problems choosing the right size, I suggest you should go down to a sports/swimsuit shop to purchase a swimsuit, since you can try the sizes there. :P

    Hope this helps! Good luck on finding your right swimsuit ><!
