I am moving from California to Alabama. Im renting a moving truck and towing my car. How can I safely move my 3 dogs and 3 cats? 2 of my dogs are big (boxers) and kennels that big will not fit in my Honda Accord. How can I work this out?

  1. I know there are companies that will move horses, like load them and take them where you want the to go, I don't know if there are any for dogs, but you can try to find one. Or else you will have to have a friend help you. I don't think 3 cats and 3 dogs will act well if you just trow them in the back seat. Make sure they ALL have a collar and a leash. Buy a harness for you cats so they can't get away, and stop routinely for bathroom breaks.

  2. so many questions first!

How many people in the 'move'?

How much stuff do you have in the truck?

Do the bigger dogs NEED to be crated?

Do the critters all get along?

I mean, can a few animals share the same crate?

You realize it might be too hot for any of your critters to ride in the car being towed, right?

IF there are two people, don't tow your car. Drive it and have the critters split between the air conditioned areas of the vehicles. Uncrated if necessary. Ask your vet for a mild tranqulizer to ease the tension of the move itself on them.. (and you for that matter, LOL!)

Pay a friend to help you drive your car and they can fly back..

OR.. maybe you could arrange w/ a small aircraft pilot to fly them to destination. The cost would be incredible most likely.

But you can't put live animals in the back of a moving truck. It's just not right. MAYBE if it wasn't summer. Maybe if it wasn't such a long trip across country in August or even September..

would be miserable and possibly fatal.

Good luck.. sorry if I didn't help much.
