I know a lot of people that aren't shy and I'm just way too shy. I think it's because of this person that kind of changed me in a good way and now to a bad way.

  1. HAVE TRUST IN YOUR SELF THAT ALLWAYS HELP

  2. Self confidence is basically grown through success.  Give yourself lots of opportunities to have interactions that turn out well.  For example, ask a question that you know the other person has the answer to.  With strangers - where can I find the shoe department?, or something like.  With friends, organize an outing to a movie or concert that you know everyone wants to see.  Arrange to meet for coffee.  Start small, and build to larger groups as your confidence grows.  Whatever it is, every time something turns out well, it makes it easier to do it again.

On the other hand, a painful parting can make it a lot harder to want to take risks again.  Just try to learn something from it that you can use to avoid another disaster.   Don't hesitate to cut off communication with people who favor one way relationships.  (They pout if they don't get their way, and expect to be the center of attention.  Sometimes this doesn't show up until after the honeymoon phase is over, so it can sneak up on you.  This applies to friendships as well as dating relationships.)

I was painfully shy as a teen.  It does wear off.  Now, I can travel across the country, and have a great time with whoever I happen to meet.
