you can bolt shelves and other furnisher like that to the wall, also put the heavy objects on the bottom shelves and lighter ones on the top.

also you can renforce your home wall usually dome perfessionally, also check to see if your house is built on a fault, or if its built on a landfill or swamp, all of which liquify during an earthquake, it doent actually become a liquid, but acts like one making homes sink into the ground, foundations break destroying walls, and so on.
