How can you prevent quick ice formation in household freezers?

ice forms up so quick and gotta defrost several times a year...its annoying!

keep the door closed, sealed. humidity in the  air can come into the freezer causing it to freeze after you close it.

Assuming your seal is okay:

Don't open the door so much. Freezers are for long term storage.

I had one customer with that complaint on a manual defrost freezer in the garage. I was there on a hot day. They kept the popsicles in there so the kids didn't come in to the house.

In the 25 minutes I was there they opened the door 8 TIMES! and they wonder why they have to defrost it so much???

Some people only get in to their freezers once a week or less. Then they move food in the freezer to the refrigerator's freezer.

Most new  equipment is frost free. If yours is not, you must have a moisture problem, or a seal problem.

I like to use a dollar bill to check for leaks around the seal of the door. Insert the bill at various locations around the gasket....If you have a leak the bill comes out without resistance. It should be vary apparent.
