How can you prevent your hair from getting greasy?

my hair is color treated, and. i flat iron it daily. but, it gets greasy fasy. and, with my hair being dyed (purple) i only wash it every other day so it won't fade. and, i want to know if there's a way to stop my hair from gettiong greasy after only one day. thank youuu. [:

The main reason is probably because you are young (I assume you are?), hair becomes oily around puberty and meens you have to wash it more than you used to.

Make sure you wash out all your shampoo and conditioner when you wash it. Do a "squeeky test": rub your hair into your scalp, if it squeeks that means that you've washed it all out. If not keep washing.

This is a common mistake.

Another tip is to stop handeling your hair. The more you touch your hair, (by holding it up, tucking it behind your ears, or just stroking it) all the oils from your hands go onto your hair and make it extremly greasy.

I know you want to preserve your color, but when you wait till every other day, it will cause your hair to get greasy. Look for any shampoos and conditioners that are just for oily hair and color treated, I have never tried this but i heard that if you sprinkle a little baby powder on oily hair it will absorb the powder and give it a more dry look instead of the wet oily look. They have certain shampoos for color treated hair, you can usually find them in Wal*Marts and Walgreens. If you can get a hold of those, just wash your hair daily to stop the grease, and hopefully the shampoo will work to keep your color in. Good luck.

I personally just dyed my Blonde and put aqua blue highlights in it .

I wash my hair every other day , and put baby powder in it ..

It may sound a little weird .

Shake it onto your hand , and distribute evenly throught the hair then shake it .

Shampoo it twice, only condition it on the ends. Wash hairbrushes and pillow cases weekly, as well as wiping the plates on your hair straightener. The more often you wash it, the more quickly the naturals oils on your head feel they need to make up for lost oils when washing. So definitely don't switch to everyday washing. Try finding a clarifying shampoo and conditioner for colour treated hair. Also, avoid touching your hair too much, especially near the roots. You will make it greasy by touching it too often.

over using conditioner near the scalp can cause hair to go greasy and also using other hair products afterwards, however there is a spray that is available that you can use to make hair look less greasy it absorbs some oil from your hair. this is it here..

also make sure you clean your brush and try not to brush your hair too many times in one day as this adds to it becoming greasy.
