This guy was locked up for 5 years in prison for rape and assault only to be cleared by DNA evidence. Is the state going to compensate him for the anguish, and mental degredation he underwent? What is the victim now going to do/feel seeing that she accused the wrong man? Would she apologise?

  1. Rape is still a bailable offence and he could of try posting bail.

Sad thing is that with it's resources the Judiciary can only do so much in any given time.

  2. girl i was thinking bout that same thing self when i read the papers.. one thing is for sure, she better hope he doesnt look for revenge providing that he was indeed innocent.

u know how some witnesses getting amnesia an thing, leh we hope the DNA evidence was done in the proper manner, and it had no "mix up" nah...

  3. Its two of them - so I think it probaly was a set up or something - what a coincedence that two women ID the wrong suspect!

Four years in jail is horrible especially if yuh innocent - our court system really in a mess!  I hope he gets ample justice and his reputation (if it was good to begin with) back!

  4. It amazes me how fast the bad international influences affect Trinidadians, all the gun violence, gangs and thug life.  We even picking up on Halloween and Valentine's day so much now, but thing we should try to copy, such as DNA and other forensic updates and other crime fighting tools we take ages to obtain.  I am sure he wouldn't be getting any form of compensation, by the way.

  5. as a forensic scientist i am proud tht our island can use this manner of science to clear the innocent. but 5 years jed

the state will surely have to apologise publicly in order for him to clear his name and compensate him for this chunk of his life that has gone missing

it is not fair to him or his relatives

it is hard to clear your name in a case like this, all he can do is try and hopefully our government aids him in clearing his name and regaining his life

  6. just stop doing what ever it is that you are doing and be a woman about yours, let people say what they want and do what they want . They don't know the real you. So, forget the B.S. and do you 4 real 4 real! keep your head held high.

  7. So sad it took 5 years then to be proven not guilty.

Although he was freed, he is already branded by society. Nothing he do can really clear his name. Sad.
