How can you relieve a persistent leg cramp?

I'm having a really painfully leg cramp each time I sit down. It starts with the thigh and quickly hurts the calf. It streches all the muscles in my left leg and I start to sweat and breathe heavily. I can't sit for more then 2 minutes before I need to lay down.

Has this ever happened to anyone before and have you found its remedy?

  1. Yes, I've had that and I researched it and found a simple cure.  Potassium. You can get it over the counter at grocery stores and health food stores.  You can't overdose on it.  When I get a leg cramp I take 4 of the 99mg  pills.  If this is an ongoing problem for you just follow the directions on the bottle for preventative measures.

  2. Water.  Drink lots of water.

You can't overdose on it. <---PLEASE DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS.  Every pharmacist I have ever asked about potassium says that it can be very dangerous in high levels.
