Call the phone company and ask for an unlisted number.

But be warned.  Your phone number is public now, so in the wonderful world of the internet archives, it will always be public in online people searches.  

Personally I would change my number (to an unpublished number).

Call the Verizon business office and tell them you want an unlisted #, and if you talk to someone that knows what they're doing, it'll get done. If not, you're screwed.
