I need to find out what's been downloaded and what's been visited on my computer. Like if someone has been on p**n or whatever, but how do you do that if someone has done disk clean up's and deleted the web history and then deleted it from the recycle bin. So is there a way i can pull that up? my computer is a dell, dimension 3000, microsoft window's xp.

  1. Well I'm just focusing on the part which says deleted the recycle bin.. Here is something that should help you. beware though, if you have a large HDD say 60GB or more, & lots of free space, it could take a LOT of time http://www.free-av.com/en/tools/10/avira...

On the other hand if space is less, then Windows Swap file would have written over most of the old data anyways. You seem to have an old friend /hack in your computer. I'd recommend changing the Admin & user password immediately. That is your first line of defense.

  2. well you have two options.

    A. You can do a system restore (Start>All programs>Accessories>System tools> System restore then chose restore to an earlier point)

    B. try recuva (http://www.recuva.com) it's a data recovery tool and can usually find files like web cookies if they have been deleted recently

  3. HISTORY FILE LOCATIONS:

    start--control panel--internet options--general--history

clear and set to 0 days to keep

    temp files:clear all

    cookies: clear all

start--my computer [ or just Computer for Vista users ]--local disk drive (c) :

    temp folder

    windows:

    prefetch folder

temp folder [ there ARE two of them ! ]

    Firefox 3.0+:

    tools--options--privacy tab--cookies: show cookies

    XP Home:

    start--my computer--local disk drive (c)--documents & settings--

    your username--cookies,highlight and delete
