IQ is based on age- because with age you gain wisdom. It wouldnt be fair to compare an 18 year old and a 40 year olds IQ at the same level and same score.

How do these people become top contributors when they obviously have no idea of the answer or topic.

  1. IQ is not based on age.  you dont get smarter as you get older, you just are exposed to more information.  thats why they curve IQ tests because obviously a 10 year old cant be expected to know as much as a 40 year old not because your intelligence quotient is like some exponentially growing substance.

if anything you get stupider as you get older through loss of brain cells (which dont regenerate after alcohol consumption or drug abuse)

plus if what you were saying was true why do 40 year olds have so much trouble on shows like are you smarter than a 5th grader???

  2. You couldn't be much farther off. Experience doesn't count as intelligence. Part of intelligence is being able to learn new things and apply them. Age has a small, if any, effect on IQ.

Thats why some people skip grades and can graduate high school and college years before normal. These people are most likely more intelligent than others their age and those at any age.

  3. IQ looks at mental age and chronological age. So if you are 18 and you score 150 on the IQ test that doesn't mean you are smarter than someone who is 40 and scores 110.

It just means you are smarter than people at your chronological age.

  4. IQ tests are not achievement tests./ They test the ability to think./
