  1. You should be able to sign in as Invisible on AIM.  If using the AIM Client, I know there's a setting to sign on as invisible.

  3. Yes, I believe it looks like an eyeball next to your away status. I use Pidgin for my instant messaging needs, and I would highly recommend it if you like using AIM, but don't like the program on your computer.
