How can you simply card counting to someone who's never done it before?

I'm not planning to take down a casino or anything, I'm just intrigued and want to see if i could practice with my friends and familly. I'm 17 and after seeing 21, I wanted to know if someone like me could do it.

And please, if you're only going to answer to tell me that card counting is illegal, you'll just be wasting your time because I know you're wrong.

I know that cards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, (and 6?) are assigned a +1

7, 8, 9 are 0

10, J, K, Q, A are -1

Besides going around and counting and whatnot, what else is there to card counting? When would i have to divide?

And would it be relatively easy if i just played a regular blackjack game with only one deck of cards?

  2. You divide based on the number of decks you estimate to be left in the shoe to get a true count.

It's actually easier to count when there are more decks in the shoe.

If you buy the book "21: Bringing Down the House" it will explain this and a whole lot more, plus it's a good read.
