  1. Dogs do not have the cognitive ability to connect rubbing their faces in p**p with "don't p**p here".  It only scares them, as you said.  Saying "bad dog" doesn't help either... for all the dog knows, you could be telling him "Yes!  p**p here!"

Take the p**p outside, clean up the carpet, and look into crate training for your Chin.

  2. Praise works a lot better then punishment. Try and put some poo right outside the doggie door. Your Chin will be able to smell it from inside. Dogs always prefer to go where they have gone before. Oh, clean like crazy the Area inside where he poo'd before. If your dog uses the doggie door and does it outside, then praise him like crazy, like it was the best thing ever.

  3. put her in a small kennel at night.  It needs to be small enough that if she poops, she has to lie in it.  They won't do that.

First thing in the AM, physically take the dog outside to a designated potty place and give her a command like "take a break!" or "find a spot!"  Always use the same place, and the same command.  Be patient.

When the dog does it's thing, praise the living you-know-what out of her.  Have a "you pooped in the right place" party.  Give her a treat.  Then bring her in and feed her.

In the house, for a while, keep her on a leash so you have to pay attention to her.  Take her out regularly.  Always throw a parrty when she does the right thing.

If you cannot watch the dog, she should be in the kennel.

The key here is preventing her from being able to potty in the house in the first place, then creating a new habit.  This can take several weeks of dedication.

The dog will learn fastest if you don't give it the opportunity to potty in the house at all.  Once your dog potties in the house, you really have to start back at square one.

don't you just wish they spoke ENGLISH!

  4. your dogwants u to take it oustside. my j*p. chins are afraid of the dark. they wont go out without the outside light on. they are very persistent,(but also very cute!!)

  5. One thing that might help would be to feed your dog the last meal of the day a little earlier, so that it has a chance to relieve it's self before bedtime.  When you clean the spot it goes on, be sure to use Nature's Miracle, or some type of enzyme cleaner so the odor and stains are removed.  Taking the dog to the spot and showing it and saying bad dog is counter productive. Most dogs work better off of praise.  It is much better to reward the good behavior than punish the bad.
