Are there any natural method for stopping a tattoo from hurting (natural meaning no medication). I've heard you could put ice or something on it but...I don't know. Are there any or do you just have to deal with it?

  1. I am unclear if you mean during the process of getting the tattoo, or during the aftercare of your tattoo until it is completely healed to skin, with hair, and does not hurt when you bump it.

So, 1) while getting a tattoo, it is important that you have eaten about 1 hour before you come in, that you are well rested, relaxed, breathing slowly, don't tighten up your body, do not move, distract yourself by talking, listening to music, looking around and focusing on other things.

All these things make it easier for you and your tattooist. They all will help minimize the pain.

    2) After getting the tattoo: follow excellent aftercare, keep it clean with antibacterial soap, pat dry with clean paper towels, air dry, apply a light coating of Lubriderm on it (it may sting on a fresh tattoo, but will not after 3 days or so) air dry, pat off any seepage with clean paper towel.

No soaking, no direct water streams, no swimming, no petroleum products, nothing with Lanolin, no Neosporin, unscented lotion (Lubriderm is good because it has healing properties). No sunblock until it completely heals. No towels or cloths, no rubbing, no scratching, no picking at it. If it itches you can slap it (but I wouldn't recommend it), I don't think ice is a good idea - wash it and elevate it, take some ibuprofen if it swells or is red it will lesson the inflammation. Don't go looking for anything else to put on it, leave it alone and think of something else.

Here is a site link that may help: http://tattoo.about.com/

That's it, unless you got your tat from an unlicensed person and you are having any problems. This could be very serious and could be and infection, MRSA, Blood Bourne pathogen, etc. and you need to go to a doctor in this case. (hopefully this does not apply to you)

    Good luck

  2. dude it really isnt that bad. The whole time all you can think about is how happy you are and the pain is nothing to you because once its done you just become overwhelmed with happiness. unless the artist screws up the tattoo lol. But no there isnt anything you can do. Just suck it up and get it done!

  3. I dont know any natural methods besides meditation...

I know of a lot of topical anesthetics, all lidocaine based, that are during procedure partial numbing agents.

But I think dealing with it, with nothing, is the best way, you will appreciate mroe if it hurt.  ;-)

  4. You really cant. If you impare yourself with alchol, or weed, or any other drugs, It can thin your blood, and make you bleed, and cause the ink to distort, and could seep into your blood. Also do not take asprin before the tattoo. Its not too bad, I have had a few tatoos now, and it is NOT unbearable pain, at all. The easiest place for no pain, is upper arm. Had 1 on upper arm today, and did not hurt at all! And im very bad with pain tolerance. Its more annoying =]

  5. wow no pain no gain just deal with it you weep what you know(not sow) you knew it hurt while it was being done

  6. not get 1
