  1. What kind of iron do you use? If it's not ceramic, it'll really hurt your hair. And make sure your hair is dry or the water boils away and fries the cuticle.

If you want, you can put a product like Biosilk on your hair before ironing; the heat activates it.

  2. My hair is the same texture. I use CHI Iron Guard heat protector spray and a Solara or CHI flat iron. When you straighten it, please only use a ceramic iron, otherwise, those other irons will damage your hair. CHI products are awesome to use to protect your hair from heat. Their shampoos, conditioners, etc. all protect your hair from the damage of heat. I hope this helps as I'm talking from experience.

  3. Curly and wavy hair is awesome! But if you insist on straightening it...it is not possible to straighten your hair using a straightener or blowdryer, and not damage it. The only way to straighten without damaging is to wrap your hair around your head when it is wet and pin it down so that it dries straight. If you are going to use heat products, use a heat protection spray. You'll still get damage, but it won't be quite as much.

  4. use ceramic flat iron

    use a heat protectant spray

    tresemme works!

  5. There is a line by Matrix called sleek, it comes in orange containers and says sleek on it.  It will protect your hair while you are flattening it.  I use it because I have really curly hair too.  It makes my hair look naturally straight and softer because my hair is thin.  You'll like it but it's on the pricey side. Worth it though.  Have fun.  If u need me email!

  6. you can get heat protection sprays from the drug store

    i recommend tresemme

also, use a conditioner  that moisturizes your hair it might say "for dry damaged hair" on the bottle

try not to straighten your hair everyday, wear it natural now and then
