  1. [Did Bruce C actually recommend 'caning' a poor l'il snail?]

Sweetie, you're a brethren (or sistren) red-head. I know you can handle this!

If, like me, you've hit that age where eyesight is questionable (after all these years of 20/20 vision!) you might want to hire a seeing-eye dog to confirm both the "snailiness and entrailsiness" of each item.

BTW: If you're Jewish, do NOT tell your rabbi of your intentions to eat a snail! (gutless or not)

  2. I don't eat bottom feeders.

Never mind bottom of the garden feeders!

I wouldn't know. May i suggest i nice Greek salad instead with some lovely warm pitta bread.

    Less cholesterol & cholera.

  3. The only reference I've seen to cleaning is to put them in some very damp corn meal for a day or two (and keep refrigerated).  This will clean the digestive tracts.

  4. Never heard of doing it.  Whenever I've eaten snails I thought they were still in there.

  5. unless you are speaking of large snails like conch you don't.

caned snails are already done for you.

fresh snails you need to blanch in boiling water for 30 seconds or so then remove them from the shell and rinse well . when the snails hit the hot water they expel any waste material.

    snails are mighty fine.

  6. NO

  7. You are considering eating a snail and you are worried about it's guts?  No, you don't clean them like shrimp.  You just soak them in clean water for awhile.
