How can you tell a goldfish's gender?

I have two goldfish, and I gave them both male names but I can't really tell. One is smaller and brighter in colour whereas the other is bigger and a bit lighter. Can anyone tell me how you find out a fish's gender?

  1. You cannot s*x them by fin shape/colour, both sexes are identical in that respect.

    You can only s*x them once they are over a year old (sexually mature) and during the springtime. Males develop white pimples on their gill covers, see this site for pics:

  2. males have nose thingsI(horns kinda) that porttude quite bigly,(sorry for description:P)  females have smaller ones
