Obviously, to play Division I ball or be considered an NFL draft prospect, you have to have a good arm. I've got two questions:

1. How do professional scouts measure arm strength?

2. Watching a football game on TV, is there a way you can tell if a QB has a strong/weak arm?

  1. Cuz the ball take less time to reach is target.

  2. how far and fast he can throw a ball

  3. by how far he can throw the ball

  4. 1. By how far you can throw, and how fast the ball goes

    2. No, I think the scouts go to the games.

  5. A QB's strength is measured by how far he can lob the ball and how much zip he has on shorter passes.  One problem with a strong arm QB is receivers have a harder time catching the ball since the ball is thrown so hard.  Brett Favre has a strong arm as do the Manning brothers.

You can get a good idea of a QB's arm strength by watching him on TV but nothing matches seeing it in person.

  6. Distance, and velocity! Being able to hit the mid-range curls and out routes with zip and accuracy, is actually a more eye catcher than being able to air it out 50 to 60 yds downfield.

  7. The best test is a 5 yard out by the reciever! Anyone came throw a 50 yard pass, but if you can throw the out without the Dback intercepting it. You've go an arm. It's the hardest pass in football.
