  1. In parakeets there are ceres, which are small dots on the bird's beak. In mature male parakeets the ceres are bright-bluish; the female ceres are reddish-brown. When the birds are young, it is difficult to tell because the ceres of both sexes are pale blue.

  2. That's easy. If your bird is still a baby, it's impossible to tell. If your bird is an adult, then you can tell. If the cere (that weird thing above their beak) is blue, then it is a boy. If the cere is Pink or brown then it is a girl.

My friend Meriel has two parakeets, and that's what she told me.                                     :)

  3. You know those nostril looking things above their beaks? If the color of it is kinda blueish or tanish then its a boy and if the color is kinda purpleish or pinkish then its a girl.

  4. You can tell if a Parakeet is male or female by the color of their "nose."

If the part above his beak is pink, it's a girl. If it is blue, it's a boy.

  5. Budgerigars are sexually dimorphic, which means that the males and females look different.  The males have a light blue  cere (the flesh above their beak) and the females have a reddish-pinkish one.  When they are young, the males' ceres are usually more bluish than the females.
