How can you tell if a company is legitmate or not?

I found a company that I want to apply for though I am having reservations about it my friend says that it is a legitimate company. I just want to make sure. What other sources do I have that I can check the company out?

your best bet would to go to www.bbb.org and check the business out

I am not certain what you mean by legitimate.  Checking with you local better business bureau would be one way.
