How can you tell if a married person is flirting for the wrong reasons or just for fun?

I think it is sometimes hard to tell. Usually I find one person takes it the wrong way. I think flirting is fun & a stroke to the ego, even with a married person, and it means nothing, especially when you work with the person. However, usually one person takes it out of context, don't you think? Then, it can be awkward for the person who flirts for no reason other than for harmless fun. How can you tell if a married person is innocently flirting for the wrong reasons or just for fun?

  1. a married person should not be flirting with non other than his or her mate.

  2. There's a difference between flirting and coming on to someone.

I agree that flirting is a harmless and fun pastime. But it needs two. If someone habitually takes it as a come on, that person is not a flirt. Flirt with the flirts who get it.

(BTW, Miss Manners herself finds flirting acceptable, married or not.)

  3. You shouldn't flirt with others jokingly or not if you are married

or if you are single you shouldn't flirt with a married person.

    Good day

  4. Personally, I think any married person that flirts is doing it for the wrong reasons, Of course they probably do not mean anything by it but it still sends out an entirely different message by their actions and can be construed as inappropriate behavior (no matter how innocent). I used to be a big flirt but once i got married i just did not see the need to act that way anymore. I would never want to risk the chance of offending anyone or making myself look bad.

*no point being a tease. If you can't follow through, don't even start. :)
