How can you tell if it's safe to wax your floors?

  You don t wax a varnished wood floor  It won t stick properly and  wax comes across as dull

Unless you've had wood floors re-varnished and it isn't fully dry, then you should be okay to wax them. The manufacturer doesn't recommend waxing the wood laminate flooring, though. They have a factory finish built in and just need a damp mopping to clean.

For a clean vinyl laminate, they can be waxed or not but the newer ones also have a built in shiny top layer that only requires a damp mopping to bring back the shine.  Good luck!! : )
