I am just being nosy now and was wondering if there were actually any ways to tell if somebody is lying other than their pulse... I'm sure I've heard of something to do with them looking up to the left but I don't know. Anyone know any?

  1. Check to see if they are a politician, such as a Virgin Islands senator. That is a dead giveaway!

  2. There are some good books written by reputable people about how to do this.  Check your local library.

One such work might be John Douglas' book, "Mind Hunter."  He's one of the FBI guys who pioneered the analysis of serial killers.  He presents some interesting details on the psychological aspects of interrogations.  He's also the man who was the model for Scott Glenn's character, Jack Crawford, in the movie, "The Silence of The Lambs."

  3. usually if the person is telling the truth, the person should be able to look you in the eye and lie. but some people can fool you. the best way is to leave it up to time. eventually, the lie will come out. because to tell one lie you have to tell ten other lies. so dont even worry about it..sit back and enjoy the lies and when the truth comes out, you confront the person and leave their friendship or relationship behind..time tells the story..

  4. it depends on how they act when they tell you. if the don't look at you when they are talking they are probably lying

  5. As far as I know there's no sure way to tell is someone's lying. The only thing I can tell you is my kids always say that I'm the only one who can tell when they're lying.

  6. A 'lie' is a statement a person makes the veracity of which you are required to probe or prove.

Check whether that statement is consistent with what all other similar statements he/she has been making. There should be compatibiltity with his uttererances. He has to labour to make a structure of consistent statements (tissue of lies if that is his intent). It yields results most times. If called upon to probe, the cross-questioning should be relevant. Date of ccurance of an event may not be remembered normally. But it might only technically satisfy requirements of the case.

This is applicable to any situation even where in the putative lier is not standing in front of you or you may have seen only his text in print media like that of a politicain. Following majority opinion is nothing but taking leave of your judgemental faculty, that is nothing short of taking no responsibility for you opinion.

  7. amen dev is on to something but I heard it the other way so it is written down somewhere.

When people are accessing the imaginative part of their memory then they look up. (try it and see what is natural to you)  When they are accessing the real memory, the tend to look down.

No, it is not fool proof and I can never remember to try it.

  8. i read somewhere how to detect lie?

it said when a person,in front of you

speaks while remembering what he/she has to speak

if he/she looks upwards, then he might be saying truth

but if he/she looks downwards, then he might be lying

of course this is human psychology

but i have observed that it works......

  9. There's no way to be a human lie detector. The only thing I can think of is if you kind of catch them in a lie, extra adrenaline gets sent out into their body causing their irises to dilate. That's not an "always" type of thing though...

  10. Excessive blinking.

  12. Thru looking into their eyes and their body language, howver skilful they are, it shows.

  13. Eye contact, lots and lots of eye contact.

  14. well............ you are asking something impossible!!

but many people say that "I CAN TELL HIS/HER CHARACTER BY LOOKING AT THEIR BODY LAGUAGE!!"
