Would like to know if could you know if a dog is in heat??

  1. the blood spots on the couch are usually a dead give away, but if not, see if she is suddenly carrying her tail to one side, and her v***a appears to be swollen, then you might want to keep her indoors for a few weeks.


  2. They can get a little moody and go off their food just before heat. My Lab gets overly clingy.

    The v***a will swell and you'll start to see drops of blood on the floor and on her bedding.

    It will last for about 3 weeks, give or take a day either way.

    The blood will be bright red at the start, turning to a straw colour when the heat is reaching its end.

    It is vital that you supervise her at all times when around boy dogs to avoid an unwanted pregnancy.

    The heats will continue around every 6 months, but this does vary slightly from b*tch to b*tch, they all tend to be a little different. Unless she is spayed when obviously they will stop.

  3. There are physical and behavioral changes in understanding whether your dog is in heat or not.
