  1. You can measure the temperature of each part of the flame using an instrument called a pyrometer. this is an electronic instrument for measuring high temperatures. When you do this you will find that the bue part of the flame is hotter than the yellow part.

  2. I think blue one is warmer as it is produced when gas is burned completely

The yellow one is produced when gas is incompletely burned. And all you have to do is reduce the amount of gas released or increase the amount of Air that is mixed

  3. The yellow flame  is the cooler one because the combustion is less complete. The flame is more fuel-rich.  In the blue flame the fuel-gas ratio is more optimal and you get a hotter flame. See the description at:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bunsen_burn...

  4. If you put a small piece of metal in the flame you can soon tell.  An inoculating loop (used in microbiology) will glow red in the blue flame, but not in the yellow one.  The hottest part of the flame is the top of the inner blue flame.

Another way of testing is to hold a piece of white paper far enough above the flame not to ignite.  You will see soot (unburnt carbon) gather on the paper above the yellow flame.  This indicates incomplete combustion producing less energy, so a cooler flame.

  5. try touching both bits and see which is hotter
