  1. You hear a siren, the sky turns black, and you see a funnel cloud, and the winds pick up

  2. Environmental Clues

    Look out for:

    Dark, often greenish sky

    Wall cloud

    Large hail

Loud roar; similar to a freight train

  3. Sky doesn't necessarily turn green, so certainly don't  use that as your "all must be fine" indicator.

Greenish sky is usually a sign of hail.  Hail is usually a sign of highly convective (lots of up and down motion) storms.  Highly convective storms are strong storms.

Reliable signs of a tornado come best from technical sources, like radar.  Far too many things can prevent you from seeing one for yourself (ground blockage, rain wrapping, darkness, etc.)

    Hope that helps!

  4. First you'll see dark clouds real close to the ground. You might experience hail, lighting, and rain. The you should see a whole bunch of clouds coming together forming a funnel cloud. Next its going to start spinning in circles until it reaches the ground. Then that's when you take cover!!! Plus you'll hear the siren going off. If you don't then you have a hearing problem.

  5. 1-the sky turns green then everything goes silent

2-the rain comes then it stops

3-then if you look up the clouds are spinnig.

  6. Sometimes the sky will get that greenish color but not always.

The best way is to monitor your local doppler radar.  Doppler Radars have been designed to look for the swirling of air masses that spawn tornados.

  7. yes the sky turns green and it will sound like a train is coming

  8. Right before a tornado will hit the rain will stop just for a few seconds and you will hear a low rumbling sound it reminds me of a train going down the tracks. The sky could really be any color. When a tornado starts to form sometimes in the sky you can see funnel clouds starting to start dip down it's when they start dipping close to the ground you need to take cover.  A tornado can strike suddenly thought sometimes without no warning it just depends.  Most tornadoes -- but not all! -- rotate cyclonically, which is counterclockwise in the northern hemisphere and clockwise south of the equator. So if you are driving and see a tornado and it's far enough away you should always drive away from it taking right angles.
