I have a cat that isn't quite a year old yet. I know I should have gotten her spayed but I can't afford it. I don't want any answers on how irresponsible I am, just how to know if a cat is pregnant. Also, if she is still so young will there be any complications with her giving birth if she is pregnant?

  1. Its not often that cats get pregnant at that age... but look for weight gain and her nipples will become full with milk after a while and usually cats go through something called heat when they arent spayed which means that once in a while you will see her show signs of wantin to get some.. haha... technically she's horny.. and if she doesnt do that then that could also mean she is pregnant.. i dont know fi she will have complications though.. you could ask your vet.

  2. if she is pregnant her belly will swell up and her nipples with get bigger. she will also start "nesting", laying in her favorite, comfy spot (possibly where she could have the kittens). she will get lazier and eat a lot more. you will be able to tell soon if she is, it doesnt take long for a cat to have their kittens, so make sure to keep an eye on her. i work at a humane society and ive seen a lot of young cats have babies, she shouldnt have any problems as long as she doesnt have any medical conditions and as long as she is not sick. if you can afford it now, and do not want kittens, i would suggest getting her spayed now. the vet will abort the kittens. good luck, im sure she will be just fine : ]

  3. Unless you’re breeding your cat chances are you won’t know your cat is pregnant until she is well along in the gestation period. The mother doesn’t begin to bulge noticeably until a couple of weeks before delivery time. Here are a few signs and symptoms you may see if your cat is pregnant:

    - Nipples will begin to enlarge and become more soft and pink, (this is the #1 sign)

    - Weight gain, especially around the mid-section

    - Increase in appetite, this usually occurs close to birth

    - Some cats may become more affectionate than usual

    - Cats may also exhibit morning sickness

    - Nesting activity begins
