My son is 1 and I think he picks up on things, and is very knowing for his age. But then I'm his mum, and am going to be biased . So are there any web sites, or on line thingys I can look at. Or some where that specializes in that sort of thing. (I'm not pushy, and I don't care if hes above below or on average , I'm just curious.)

  1. Rather than trying to "assess" your son, focus on the things you can do with him.  Read everyday.  Point out pictures of things and say the word.  There are wonderful toys,  building blocks, plasticware that he can use to pour water in the bath in/out.  Talk to him like an adult, not babyspeak.  Talk him for rides/walks.  Let him play with other children his age.  Books with "norms" (averages) for ages of abilities give some idea...but dont' worry if he's not at the average, boys are behind girls (e.g. girls walk around 10 months, boys 13).  Just keep talking to him, that will really help...wooden puzzles...simple toys are best.
