  1. they like the taste of Vegemite!! lol

Accent would be the biggest giveaway, use of terms such as 'heaps', place of birth on birth certificate or school on high school certificate...easiest way would be to ask I would say:)

  2. accent

    stuff they say

    id's

    they tell you =)

  3. by their accent.

  4. Loves vegemite....haha. I would also say accent...i grew up in Australia but now live in the usa....i would say my accent is all gone but i guess alot of people notice some of my vowels.....like when i am saying our, i tend to pronounce it like Oww....like i am very lazy with my "r's"

  5. Language / accent.  They may have an accent (though possibly not if they have lived elsewhere for sometime) but language may be a give away, they may use certain words that are uniquely Australian.  For example, "swimming costume" may be called cozzies, togs, swimmers...

Attitude.  Australians are generally fairly laid back, not lazy I might add, but they are not "perky" or "wound up".  Their humour is generally self-effacive.

  6. It's in their Eyes! And their I's, O's, A's and U's. It's the accent, they only have three vowels! Very difficult for an English speaker to reproduce. Lol. (Now don't crack the sh*ts other Aussies, I'm only jeesting!) Oh! And the consonant "R" is nonexistant, so that the phrase, "I parked a tiger on her carpet", (meaning "I spewed upon her floor covering") becomes, "A paakd a taagaa unn hehh caahpit." Confusing perhaps, but somehow melodious!

  7. yeah, something like that.

i met a guy in florida whose parents were from melbourne but he had never been to australia. his accent would slip between australian and american in a single sentence.
