How can you tell the difference b/w a high and low speed hand piece visually?

  1. Not sure why you would need to know this.

    But a high speed hand piece is usually smaller and thinner.  If you look at where the bur goes, it will be a small round hole.

    A slow speed therefore is usually larger and thicker.  The hole where the bur goes is bigger.

    Also, a high speed usually shoots water, whereas most slow speeds do not.
