How can you tell the difference between pistillate and staminate flower?

I have a flower but I see stamens and Im sure it is a staminte but how do you know if it has pistils?

  1. Look in the center of the flower.  If it is small you might need a hand lens.  Botanists who do a lot of field work always have a small hand lens hanging around their necks for that reason.
