How can you tell the difference between things like Clairalience (smelling) and things that everyone else..?

..Can smell? I don't really understand how someone would be able to tell the difference.

Like if a psychic smelt roses of a spirit or something, that would be clairalience. But how would you know if no one else is smelling it, like its a normal smell. How do they tell?

Ask whoever is sitting next to you if they smell it too...

I was sitting in a lecture class once, and all of a sudden I smelled really strong tobacco, like a cherry flavored pipe. I asked my friends next to me if they smelled it, and both said no. It was almost nauseating it was so strong. I couldn't believe they couldn't smell it. There wasn't a breeze in the room (no fans, no windows) that could just be blowing around smoke from a smoker's jacket. It was different than that.

I told my mom when I got home and she said my great grandpa used to smoke flavored tobacco... so I take it as a sign that he was around me that day.

If "the sitter" would be able to smell them  "the sitter" would let the psychic know. I have had where  I smell certain things strong and nobody else smelled them. I knew it was my dad. That is when I (call me crazy) enjoyed smelling his bad smelling car. He was a heavy smoker so his car always, always smelled bad. This smell came across me the most.
