  1. Good question. I have clairaudience and I hope I'm not nuts.  It would really suck to take those medications.  Everyone I have met who was schizo think that someone is after them like the FBI and CIA, or aliens trying to control their minds.  Plus they do really weird things like talk to trees or invisible friends.

  2. There is a difference between somebody who hears spirits and somebody who is schizophrenic, but it is very difficult to detect or identify.  I would characterize it like this:

    -  Somebody is mentally ill (in this case schizophrenic) if they are not able to live a normal life due to the distractions of the voices that they hear.  If they believe that the voices are badgering them and if they cannot shut the voices off, they are going to have trouble focusing whether the voices are really there or not.

    -  There are other people who hear voices, but they do not have an overwhelming influence on thier daily lives.  If a person is able to function normally and if there are no lingering effects from the voices that they hear, they are not mentally ill.  They have adapted their life to accommodate their experiences.

In the bible, Abraham heard the voice of God tell him to kill his son, Isaac.  God then told him, at the last minute, not to kill his son.  Was Abraham schizophrenic or was he communicating with God?  It all depends on your perspective.

  3. If the person you are refering to is not on medication the chances are good that they are not schizophrenic. When you have it you have it for life. Find out if you can.

  4. There is no difference. If you hear spirits, you're schizo.

  5. When it is clairaudience that you are hearing it seems like the knowlege is just there, it is usually about things which you do not know.... and it isn't really a voice, more like a knowing thought. Once in awhile a voice will seep through as if someone just called you but usually it isn't quite that way. If you have schizophrenia then the voices usually are telling you to do something or are telling you an earthly opinion on something. If someone made it to the Othe Side, they are not going to fill your head with opinions. Opinions are for the earth bound. Spirits are just way beyond that, I suppose ghosts might try to confuse you with nonsense.... then it would be hard to tell the difference.

  6. paranoia and fear. one will feel paranoid, the other will most likely feel fear. the medically ill will be out in the open, but those who are experiencing spirits will keep it to themselves out of fear and redicule

  7. This is a bit of a false dichotomy.  Schizophrenia is a diagnosable mental illness.  It can be identified by observing atypical psychological symptoms.  These symptoms have been classified and are identifiable because of their repeated appearance in human beings.  Due to the data collected, it's even possible to predict possible schizophrenic behavior and to take steps to prevent possibly dangerous behavior.

Hearing spirits isn't a pathological condition in that it doesn't necessarily result in potentially dangerous behavior.  For the most part it doesn't seem to be much more than an overactive imagination or a fantasy-prone personality.  Either way, there's no harm done so there's not really a need for treatment.

  8. Since there is absolutely no credible scientific evidence for the existence of spirits, then you're really being irresponsible by assuming spirit activity instead of realizing that the schizophrenic needs medical help.

  9. its both.you might not agree but a schizophrenic person is a person who hears spirits but its demonic spirits.there is such thing.the demonic spirits can speak to you and sometimes might reveal themselves as maybe someone you know whos already dead.read this book called pigs in a parlor.but if you dont believe in god then you probably wont believe the book.schizophrenia is jus a label that for some people is more believable than anything else.it might sound crazy but i know that stuff is real

  10. Nothing in one's mind that doesn't have a source in the spiritual realm. In fact, everything that appear in this visible realm, has a source in the invisible realm!

Thus, although both may hear the spirits; the difference between schizophrenic and someone who really hear spirits is; the schizophrenics doesn't know how to control it it drives them crazy.

The analogy is when you have a roommate who won't stop talking and you don't know how to shut her up.

Only the schizophrenics don't even know who's talking!

People who can really hear spirits, on the other hand, have enough discipline to control the 'conversation'. He or she controls the duration of the conversation, when and how, also able to tell the spirits to stop if one doesn't feel like talking.

  11. Okay this is coming from my brother. He abused drugs once. He says schizophrenic voices come from the TV or radio. They would usually tell him to do things or say things that cause paranoia. Actual spirits are voices that are heard at random and come out of nowhere. They don't talk to you or suggest things. They just seem to be talking to someone else.
