How can you tell the s*x of a snake?

I have a ball python snake that is 3ft long. I have been told that you can tell by the snakes head if it is big or small and by the tail, but I really don't know how small of a head it should be or how big it should be to know the s*x.help

Probe the cloaca for penes.  Yup.  that does the trick.

The only absolutely positive way  to be sure is to take it to a herp vet and have it probed for s*x.

i would just take it to a local pet store that has an employee that knows how to probe snakes. It'll take 1 minute. Or if you're experienced enough, you could also pop the sexual organs but this can cause damage if you don't know what you're doing

Hello; while the only surefire way to tell the s*x of a snake is to have it probed; there are some physical indicators of gender that are usually quite apparent in Ball pythons. Females are generally much larger than males, and males have smaller heads, are generally more slender, and have larger anal spurs. Males also have longer, thicker tails than females do. :)

Male: tail thicker and longer than in females, and also tapers less evenly to the tip (thicker for a bit then suddenly thinning).

Females: tail thinner and shorter than in males, and tapers smoothly, evenly and more quickly.

if the tail is long and skinny its probably a female...males usually have a bump in their tail.
