  1. You would need a magnifying glass or something that can give you an extremely magnified view of the trichomes (resin heads) on the plant.

If all of the trichomes are clear, the plant is immature & not ready for picking

If 50% are a milky white and 50% clear, the plant is still quite immature & not ready for picking

If 50% are milky white and 50% amber, this plant is ready to go!

Obviously the ratios above aren't going to be spot-on, but you get the idea.

Amber colored trichomes = very mature

    Milky white trichomes = mature

    Clear trichomes = immature

You'll have some clear, some white & some amber... more white & clear than amber will be a heady / racy high... more amber than clear or white will be a stronger high.

    I prefer 60-70% amber.

DO NOT DETERMINE READINESS BY ORANGE HAIRS! YOU HAVE TO GO BY THE TRICHOMES!

    Enjoy

  2. need a eye loop to look at the resin k***s to see how full they are. also if the hairs start turning dark its already peak production. use slow dry method for best smooth smoke.

  3. you can tell when the trichromes are bent and deformed.  the color range is not a good rule of thumb cause some trichromes are orange in the first month.

get a good microscope to see the trichromes.

  4. I am growing plants also.

When the trichomes start to turn a amberish color.

I want to make sure you kno everything you need to know so check this website out http://www.weedsthatplease.com/harvest.h...

  5. Hopefully you are able to grow without the presence of a male MJ plant. This allows the female plant buds to mature very fully without pollinization. The plant will continue to pump energy into the bud, it will become full and plump and very resinous. Sticky droplets will form on the hairy leaflets surrounding the buds. You will also be able to smell the maturing buds, sometimes skunky is a word that best describes the smell. Also, many times purple threadlike small leaves cover the buds. If you have these and they begin to fade and turn brown, pick the buds. I think you probably know how to dry the product thoroughly before use.
