How can you tell whether or not a mole is cancerous?

well i recently developed a mole on my chest and I don't think it is cancer because it looks kinda like some other ones I have, but is there a way you can tell just by looking at it?

my motto is, if it changes color or shape, have it checked out. your doctor will find out.

If you die from it then it's cancer
