How can you tell which mobile network a number is on?

i get free calls to orange numbers....is there any way i can tell which of my friends are on orange?

when you see them say 'hey are you on orange mobile?'

and duh darh!

If they've sent a message to you, look at the details of the message and it should tell you the message centre number that they've used, each network has a different number, orange is 07973074999, or anything very similar. =]

You can't because mobile users in the UK have the ability to transfer numbers between networks using a PAC code.
