  1. 'Cycle day 1' (CD1) is the first day of 'full flow' of your period. The next CD1 will be the start of your next period. Ovulation will be around 14 days before the next CD1. Keep track of CD1 by writing it in your calendar, and you'll soon get an idea of how long each cycle is, whether it's pretty regular, and therefore, when you're most likely to ovulate.

  3. Your cycle is your period. Whenever you start bleeding, that counts as cycle day 1. It has to be full on bleeding, not just spotting. When you have to use a pad or a tampon, that is considered cd1.
