How can you tell your retainer doesn't fit

okay so 2 weeks ago i lost my retainer traveling with my family and i asked them to look for it and they said they couldnt find it... well its been 2 weeks and i went got my impressions for a new retainer paid for it and waiting for it when i got the phone call that they found it and before you know it its back here so i was wondering how can you tell your retainer doesnt fit mine fits around my teeth but when i press on it it seems like it can be pushed up more i dont understand what does it mean does this mean liek my retainer doesnt fit?

  1. I'm not quite sure of your question, to begin with.  However, I'll try to explain how you can tell if your retainer doesn't fit.

    The most exaggerated hint is that you can't fit the retainer on your teeth anymore.

    Also, I'm assuming that you're wearing a top retainer?  

    I believe that there is a small space at the roof of your mouth, and maybe that is what is causing the feeling that the retainer can be pushed up further.  

    I hope this helped a bit.  


  2. you will be amazed at how fast your teeth will shift once you stop wearing your retainer. my advice would be to take it to your orthodontist when you pick up your new retainer and let him have a look at it. it may need to be adjusted some. plus its always good to have a spare just in case a situation like this comes up again.
