How can you train a ferret where not to go?

My biggest concern is having my ferret go into places it can get stuck or hurt. Is there any way to make sure this doesn't happen? Any training method?

  1. nope all you can do it put up barricades using plywood or ferret pen panels. This is part of the process called ferret proofing your home. You cannot use regular baby gates because ferrets can crawl through or climb them. Ferret play pen panels are unclimbable. You just use whatever section of the panel you want to block off the area. Or the cheaper way is plywood.

You can see here the plywood option

If you have not allready bought the stuff for the ferret I would reccomend the ferret nation 142 cage. You can get them on ebay for $149.00 which is a great deal since they are $206.00 shipping included at http://www.ferret.com/item/ferret-nation...

Here it is for $149.99 on sale at ebay (if the link is broken it is because it has been baught but the seller always has them for sale so if you just search for ferret nation cage it will pop up. http://cgi.ebay.com/Ferret-Nation-Two-St...

I reccomend the 142 over the 141 (1 level version) because most people who start with one ferret(like me) end up with a few of them. Plus what can the extra room hurt even if you do have just 1.Here are a few links about the Ferret nation. A question i answered and here is MY ACTUALY cage.

The best diet to feed is a raw whole prey diet which is what ferrets were designed to eat. I suggest joining this forum to learn about it even before you get your ferret. You will be very welcome there. One of mine allready eats raw but I don't have a job right now so the other 2 don't eat raw yet.
