I got a center speaker to the logitech x530 sound system, but i don't have the subwoofer or any other speakers, and when I plug it in to my sound card I get only a really quiet sound. Is there any way to make it louder and usable.

  1. No. In order to reduce weight, heat, and size the sound cards of any computer only organize and distribute signal. That signal MUST then be amplified and driven to a speaker. The signal is a low volume, VERY LOW! That is why you are hearing very little sound.

In your example, since the sub woofer is usually large, the amplifiers are built into them. Sorry but your center channel does you no good without an amp.

  2. You are confusing two things.

Center speaker is for things like dialog that should sound like it is coming from the center.

Sub-woofer is for low frequency bass or rumbling sounds.

You also must make sure the audio source you are using actually has the data to support a center speaker.
