  1. I use the computer to find a way to make tracing papers for their names, activities that are dot to dot for letters or numbers and for journal ideas. I have also found sites that have letters of the alphabet with a picture of something that begin with that specific letter. I have made graphs on the computer that I can print out. There are pictures with the word written below or above the picture describing the pictures. I print these out. There is so much the computer can help make a preschool teacher's curriculum easier to use.

  2. For preschoolers, I mostly use computer programs to support literacy rather than writing.

But since you asked, you could get children to identify the letter their name starts with and type it. Same with their age. older children could type their name and print it out.

Using the mouse is good for finger control and isolation which is important in fine motor skills related to the development of writing.

and drawing pictures in a drawing program can portray a simple story (pre-writing)

  3. try starfall.com...i used this website with my preschoolers...it was a big help!
