  1. First, you need to be a citizen of the country you're going to represent.

Then, you need to be a member of the governing body for the sport you're going to try out for.

After you've met those criteria, you will need to first qualify.  This means different things for different sport.  For archery for example, you need to have shot a 1200 FITA at a recognized tournament before you're allowed to participate in the trials.  Once you've met the qualification score or time, you can enter the trials.  In some sport, even if you win the trials you're not automatically entered in the Olympics.  Most sports will award the spot to the winner, but some sport will leave the final decision to the governing body.

  2. its definitely too late for 2008 but maybe u could e-mail the olympic committee say some stuff about u and ur talented sport and who knows maybe will c u at the 2012 olympics

    good luck

  3. It depends on the sport. Most of the Olympic sports have a qualifying process, trials or other competition while others are selected based upon their recent performances.

These trials are NOT open competitions. To be invited to these events, you must be an active competitior with some kind of status in the event such as a national ranking, listed performance (such as a race time) in a recognized competition.

Depending on the sport, 2 or 3 athletes are selected or win a place on the team.

For more information, check with the governing body that organizes the sport in the US. For example, Track is run by USA Track & Field.

    your welcome :)
