  1. someone has sold you a bill of goods what you need is a certified and licensed mechanic to trouble shoot your system and correct the problem if there is no freon in the system than you have a leak and that must be repaired first before you try to refill it

  2. you can't buy it ,so unless you have a source your out of luck, you have to be licensed to buy it.............tom

  3. wow is this a chiller system? This must be a chiller unit with 450 tons of cooling capacity.. I think you must be wrong on your calculations. Any ways to answer your question. A 30 lb jar price ranges from 150 dollars to 240 dollars per jar. You must have a license to buy these refrigerant jars. You must have an account with the suppliers to get this price. If you don't have an account with the suppliers you are paying twice as much for a 30 lb jar. (appox. 350 dollars). If you are talking about your ac unit at home, then you don't need 120 lbs of freon. you must be confused on your calculations, you must need a  120 lbs of pressure. if you have a 4 or 5 ton unit, I don't think you need more than 10 lbs of R-22 in it. you must check  on that. Some companies charge about 10 - 15 dollars per pound of refrigerant to re-charge your ac unit. Plus the cost of your service call. Any ways, good luck.

  4. As far as freon goes i know here in my area that if someone is installing freon you can get a couple hundred dollars worth of fines for installing it without a license. And as said before, you need the pressure to be 120 lbs. not the freone. If you dont have the pressure then something is probably wrong with one of the hoses not sealing inside the unit somewhere. I would just have an AC man come and take a look.

  5. hate to say this, but handling freon is a licensed activity due to its environmental impact. disposing of old freon is highly regulated.  buying it requires accreditation and a permit from the state in the the US.  contact a HVAC repairman.

  6. your ac doesn't need 120 lbs of freon it needs 120 lb s of pressure. big difference. 7 pounds of freon will cost you about a thousand dollars. You need to talk to an ac guy, hope you're Friends with one. You will only need ounces of freon to get your unit working again.
