  1. children learn from repeat, use the same flash cards over an over. make a game with colors ex. who sees the blue bird. always praise, make learning fun

  2. We just worked it into our everyday life.  "Oh, you have a blue shirt on today."  "Please pass me the red plate."  "Look at this pretty yellow flower."  Don't worry about better or faster, let it just happen naturally.  {We also counted everything we did ... "we're going up one, two, three, four stairs".  My daughter could count to a thousand before she started kindergarten.}

  3. Point out various objects in your home and tell the child what color it is.  As you're driving along somewhere, ask what color a tree is or ask about their shirt.  Just exercise repetition.

"I Spy" would probably be a good exercise.  Also, try to find some books that use color words.

  4. just show them the color and tell them what it is, them use different toys and identify the colors of the toys

  5. How old is the child? They learn like we learn, by memorization.

If the child is of an age where they should be "getting it" and they seem to struggle, check for color blindness.

  6. depending if your a techer or parent

parent: when dressing the child ,when shopping ,around the house ,food, always talk to your child it teachers them a great deal.

teacher: focus on a colour for 1 week or maybe more untill they are confident with the colour revise the other colour but daily ,make playdough ,paint ,cook ,make thing with that particular colour they will remember it

  7. Oh my there are many things you can do! Grant it a child is not colorblind, it is one of the simplist things a child can learn!  Here are just a few ideas:

Teach them the colors in a box of crayons. Ask them to color and object on a coloring sheet a certian color.

Sing the "rainbow song" while pointing to the colors of a rainbow (red and yellow and pink and green, purple and orange and blue....I can sing a rainbow! Sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow too!"

Play "color tag". Call out a color and ask them to touch and object in the room that is that color as fast as then can!

Sing a song having to do with clothing of different colors. There is a song that goes:: "Blue, blue is the color I see. If you are wearing blue than show it to me! Stand up, turn around, show me your blue and then sit down!" Repeat with different colors.

Candy land is also a game that is a lot of fun to play with kids (4-5 years and up) have them say the name of the color and count how many spaces to go!

Read books about colors: Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See? by Eric Caryl is a good one.  There are many more out there and easy to spot too!

Have a "favorite color" party for a child on their birthday. Try to pick out as many decorations, foods, clothes or whatever that are in that color.

Whenever you give a child something (paper to draw on, a balloon, piece of candy) give them a choice of many different colors and have them tell you which color they want.

Remember, repetition, repetition, repetition in many different ways. They will get bored with the same thing over and over again.

  8. Use a color wheel type thing. Spin the wheel and what color it lands on, they have to tell you waht color it is. If they get it right they get a prize.

  9. well first you have to learn to spell---- colors then you can  teach them!!!!!!!!!

  10. My daughter knew all of her colors and shapes by age two, and this is how I did it-  I just named the colors for everything we saw.  Like looking through a picture book "see the tree?  The tree is green! The grass is green too!"  "what color is the flower?  The flower is red!  Isn't it pretty?  What color is the flower?  That is a red flower!"  etc..."I like your blue shirt!  What color is your shirt?  Yes, your shirt is blue!!"  For shapes, I would draw them on a magnadoodle (paper works, too) and name them then have her guess them-also I would ask her what shape things were that we saw around the house.  You can teach children anything if you just spend the time and TALK to them!!

  11. Give them paints and crayons, but name those colors every single time and repeat them when needed. Children are great artists, appreciate whatever they make even if they paint the sun green and the sky red! They live in their own imaginary world. Introduce paints by finger , hand and footprints, give diiferent things to paint with eachtime, as paintbrush, toothbrush (for spray painting). play cards, stamps made out of vegetable like potato and lady finger etc.

  12. take your child for a walk and show them the many colors and never use flash cards also the leapfrog videos are great at teaching colors
